Montepulciano
Our next stop was Montepulciano! It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Jump in our cars and off we go!
A little history, I had been there 15 years ago with my friend Susie and at the time we stayed with her cousin Sue and her husband Dick. They live there part of the year. So I emailed Sue to see if she was going to be there. Yes she was and would be able to meet up with us. It’s always great to have a guide around a small town plus she gave us directions to the parking area, which was very helpful! You really can’t drive around in those little towns.
We finally made it, a little late because we took a wrong turn and had to back track. Sue was waiting for us in the parking garage. We tried to communicate by phone to her that we were running late, but we didn’t have service.
Sue walked us back to her lovely home so we could use the restroom and get something cold to drink.
Wherever we go, we are always looking for restrooms, which they, of course, called toiletts. Sometimes you have to pay one euro or two euros to use the restrooms other times they’re free. But ladies always remember you should take some sort of Kleenex or something with you in case there’s no toilet paper.
Sue toured us around a bit and then Off we went shopping on our own. We were to meet at the restaurant at 1:30.
When I came here 15 years ago I bought a huge amount of pottery to sell in my shop. The same man was still there selling the pottery. He looked exactly the same. Needless to say it was a good shopping day.
Il Picino sits atop the tower of di Pulcinella he is a bell ringer and rings the bell every hour. He is from the Neopoltian era.
It’s a charming little town and we had a great time eating (of corse) and shopping!
Photo below is on the way there
